WANTED: Caring Adults for All Children

The goal for the K-12 Mentoring alliance is simple: Recruit caring adults who can help children grow up healthy and successful.

Representatives from agencies, school districts, funding organizations, and the community at large, make up the K-12 Mentoring Alliance. Their work is connected by a passion for helping children succeed. They know the best mentors are parents, but sometimes parents can't do it alone. Mentors and tutors from the community are needed.

The K-12 Mentoring Alliance is linked to Visioneering Wichita's Education Foundation. The vision for the Education Foundation is this: Before 2024, the Wichita MSA will have a globally competitive educational system that encourages and supports lifelong learning and contributes to the social, cultural and economic vitality of our diverse community.

For the K-12 Mentoring Alliance, their goal is ambitious - by 2010 we will have 20,000 mentors recruited, trained and placed in public and private schools in Wichita and the surrounding communities.

Among the alliance's priorities is an ongoing marketing campaign to get more volunteers to mentor and tutor children both in schools and in the community. It's simple, takes less time than you think and offers more rewards than you can imagine. Find out how by clicking the "Where do I fit in?" button on this page.
