The Arkansas River Coalition, several municipalities, counties, and various
user groups, wish to develop a Master Plan for recreational use of a 100 mile reach
of the Arkansas River from Oxford, KS to the Reno/Rice County Line.
Desired recreational uses include, but are not limited to uses such as canoeing,
kayaking, hiking, biking, wildlife viewing, fishing, and hunting.
To achieve this objective, a Master Plan is being created as a blueprint for developing access points at desired intervals in a way that is both cost-effective and protective of the Arkansas River's natural amenities and character.
The Master Plan will provide a blueprint for developing access points at desired
intervals in a way that protects the natural amenities and character provided by
the Arkansas River while maximizing costeffectiveness of limited funding resources.
Project Vision
To establish the Arkansas River as a premiere recreational amenity for the state and for the region.
